The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Sunday, arrested Dixit Patel, owner of Jay Jalaram School in Godhra, Gujarat, for alleged malpractices in the NEET-UG exam. Patel's arrest brings the total number of individuals in custody to six.

Public prosecutor Rakesh Thakor stated, 'As the case has been handed over to the CBI by the Gujarat government, a CBI team will produce Patel before a designated court in Ahmedabad to acquire his remand.' The accused had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh each from at least 27 candidates to help them clear the exam.

Other individuals arrested include education consultant Parshuram Roy, school principal Purushottam Sharma, and teacher Tushar Bhatt. A preliminary investigation revealed that candidates were asked to opt for Jay Jalaram School as the exam center to manipulate their scores via tampered Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets.
