Beginning April 1, 2025, airlines will be required to share detailed information about international passengers with Indian Customs authorities. Non-compliance with this mandate could result in penalties.
Air transport providers flying to or from India must register with the National Customs Targeting Centre-Passenger (NCTC-Pax) by January 10, 2025. This requirement aligns with the 'Passenger Name Record Information Regulations, 2022' issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.
The regulations aim to bolster authorities' interdiction capabilities and enhance risk analysis. Airlines are expected to share information 24 hours before flight departure, and failure to do so could incur fines between Rs 25,000-50,000.
