Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took to the streets to protest against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's alleged remarks on Sanatana Dharma. The controversy deepened as BJP leader V Muraleedharan criticized the Congress party, pinpointing a contradiction within their ranks.
Muraleedharan highlighted the discord, noting that while Kerala Congress's Leader of Opposition opposed Vijayan's views on Sanatana Dharma, the state Congress president publicly supported them. This internal conflict has thrown Congress' stance on the issue into question, according to Muraleedharan.
He demanded clarification from the Congress leadership, suggesting Vijayan's comments tarnish Hindu philosophy. This came after Vijayan, speaking at the Sivagiri Pilgrimage, equated Sanatana Dharma with caste-based Varnashrama Dharma, sparking further debate and dissent from BJP and other political quarters.
