GAIL (India) has entered a landmark 10-year sales and purchase agreement with ADNOC Gas, slated to commence in 2026. GAIL is set to receive up to 0.52 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of liquified natural gas (LNG), marking ADNOC Gas's inaugural agreement with an Indian buyer.

The LNG shipments, originating from ADNOC Gas's Das Island facility, will be delivered in six annual cargoes. Notably, Das Island boasts an LNG processing capacity of 6.0 MMTPA and is recognized as one of the longest-standing operational LNG plants worldwide.

GAIL's Director of Marketing, Sanjay Kumar, emphasized India's burgeoning LNG demand, driven by diverse sectoral requirements. He noted that this partnership is crucial for expanding GAIL's LNG offerings, ultimately enhancing service delivery to a broad consumer spectrum.

Rashid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Senior Vice President of Marketing at ADNOC Gas, remarked that this agreement reinforces ADNOC Gas's reputation as a reliable global natural gas provider. Moreover, it aligns with plans to harness growth opportunities presented by a 15% projected rise in global LNG demand over the next decade.

India's current status as the fourth-largest LNG importer globally underscores its strategic energy aspirations, particularly as it seeks to elevate natural gas's role to 15% of its total primary energy mix by 2030. This coincides with enhanced LNG regasification infrastructure across the nation.
