Twelve people tragically lost their lives, and approximately 30 were injured after a private bus collided with a flyover wall in Rajasthan's Sikar district on Tuesday afternoon, according to law enforcement reports.
The District Superintendent of Police, Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, reported that the bus, en route from Salasar, hit the Laxmangarh flyover while attempting a turn. The police suspect the accident occurred due to the bus's high speed and overcapacity, leading the driver to lose control. The right side of the vehicle was severely crushed, resulting in the driver's immediate death. Passengers trapped inside were rescued with the aid of a crane.
Sikar IGP Satyendra Singh has disclosed that some injured individuals have been transferred to Jaipur for advanced care, while others receive treatment locally. Notable victims include Vinita, Seema, Kiran Kanwar, Kamla, and Banarasi Meghwal. Authorities are still identifying others. The police are investigating the cause, with support from medical personnel and local administration. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and other officials have expressed condolences, ensuring comprehensive care for victims and bereaved families.
