Amid a surge in incidents involving shootings and extortion in Delhi, senior police officials took decisive steps on Monday to assess the capital's security measures. High-ranking officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police, evaluated police pickets and mandated heightened alertness among personnel.

These police pickets perform crucial duties by assigning additional officers to strategic locations to uphold law and order. The spate of crimes in recent days highlights a worrying trend of violent encounters and extortion attempts in the city.

In a striking case, Delhi police reported a jeweler in Rohini receiving threats from an individual claiming ties to the notorious Kala Jathedi gang. Similarly, a music producer from Delhi faced a Rs 5 crore extortion demand, allegedly from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldi Brar Gang, as stated by the police. Notably, on November 9, police apprehended three juveniles implicated in the murder of 22-year-old Nadeem alias Bobby, alongside a linked firing incident in North East Delhi's Jyoti Nagar and Welcome areas, capturing them swiftly post-incident.

Additional firing incidents across the city further exemplify the escalating threat, including a November 6 shooting outside the Raj Mandir Hyper Market in Meera Bagh, and another at a motor workshop in Najafgarh. Preceding these, masked assailants on a bike unleashed gunfire upon a plywood shop in Nangloi, underscoring the need for reinforced security, according to Delhi Police
