Boosting Southern Railways: A Billion-Dollar Transformation

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, in a major announcement, disclosed that South Central Railway (SCR) is set to undertake infrastructure developmental projects worth around Rs 83,000 crore. These initiatives encompass various works, including 15 final location surveys, significant track additions, and redevelopment of 40 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The Union Coal and Mines Minister, along with 10 Members of Parliament from Telangana and Karnataka, participated in a meeting organized by SCR. The minister emphasized last year's addition of 415 km of track, highlighting new lines, double lines, and gauge conversion as key accomplishments. SCR officials detailed ongoing projects such as the Ghatkesar – Yadadri Multi-Modal Transport System extension.
Parliament members commended the SCR's efforts and discussed local rail infrastructure needs. They requested more train services, stoppages, new railway lines, and enhanced passenger amenities, while SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain highlighted the zone's advances in freight loading, passenger services, and digital initiatives.
