Karnataka Initiates IT Growth and Cultural Exchange with Maldives

In a bid to strengthen regional ties, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has extended an offer to enhance its information technology links with the Maldives. During a meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Siddaramaiah emphasized Karnataka's readiness to support the growth of the IT sector in the island nation, highlighting Bengaluru's position as India's Silicon Valley.
The Chief Minister expressed interests in establishing trade partnerships to promote Karnataka's handicraft and handloom heritage among tourists in the Maldives. He further mentioned the state's diverse cultural and natural riches, aiming for a partnership to boost educational and cultural exchanges.
Coinciding with the President's visit, Karnataka's Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot underscored the historic ties between India and the Maldives. The Governor praised recent economic developments and bolstered cooperation such as enhanced air connectivity, visa facilities, and the introduction of the RuPay card in the Maldives, reflecting the nations' enhanced bilateral relations.
