Karnataka Eyes IT and Handicraft Growth with Maldives
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed interest in facilitating IT industry growth and promoting handicrafts in Maldives. He discussed with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu plans to enhance economic collaboration including cultural and educational exchanges, reinforcing Karnataka’s diverse cultural and natural heritage appeal to tourists.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has proposed to bolster the information technology sector in Maldives and promote the state's handicrafts industry among tourists visiting there. During a meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu at Raj Bhavan, Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka's robust ecosystem supporting startups and innovation.
He acknowledged the Maldivian government's interest in partnering with Bengaluru's leading IT firms, expressing Karnataka's readiness to assist in this growth venture. Siddaramaiah also emphasized his desire to cultivate trade relationships that would enhance the visibility of Karnataka's handicrafts and handlooms in Maldives.
Moreover, Siddaramaiah detailed Karnataka's rich natural and cultural heritage, pointing to opportunities for educational and cultural exchanges with Maldives. He promoted the state's tourism slogan, "One State, Many Worlds," and cited its expansive coastlines and biodiversity as key attractions.
