In a strategic move to curb the mounting prices of essential commodities, the government has expanded its subsidised pulses programme, adding chana whole and masur dal to the roster under the 'Bharat' brand.

Unveiled by Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi in New Delhi, the second phase of the initiative will see chana whole priced at Rs 58 per kg and masur dal at Rs 89 per kg, distributed through cooperative networks like NCCF, NAFED, and Kendriya Bhandar.

Managing Director of NCCF, Anice Chandra Joseph, announced the distribution would begin in cities like Delhi and Rajasthan, with an expansion plan across the nation within 10 days.
