The Network Planning Group (NPG), under the PM Gati Shakti framework, convened for its 81st meeting to review significant infrastructure projects across India. Spearheaded by Rajeev Singh Thakur, Additional Secretary, DPIIT, the group discussed projects from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The Vrindavan bypass in Uttar Pradesh, part of these discussions, is a greenfield endeavor. By constructing a 16.75 km bypass connecting NH-44 to the Yamuna Expressway, it aims to cut travel time from 1.5 hours to just 15 minutes. This project is anticipated to ease traffic, uplift tourism, and invigorate economic growth in the region upon completion.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Sandalpur-Badi road project involves a new 4-lane highway spanning 142.26 km. Similarly, in Maharashtra, the Junnar-Taleghar and Bhimashankar-Rajgurunagar projects target enhanced road infrastructure to facilitate smoother traffic flow, benefiting both freight and passenger transport. Additionally, the new terminal at Srinagar Airport in Jammu & Kashmir seeks to boost passenger capacity, highlighting the integrated approach of the PM Gati Shakti initiative.
