Road Connectivity Boost: Union Government Approves Rs 11,000 Crore for Chhattisgarh
The Union government approved Rs 11,000 crore to enhance road connectivity in Chhattisgarh. This funding, backed by Minister Nitin Gadkari, aims to develop four major national highways, promoting industrial growth. Additional funds were cleared for various projects to expedite development and address hindrances, ensuring timely completion.

The Union government has sanctioned Rs 11,000 crore to strengthen road connectivity in Chhattisgarh, a state government official confirmed on Monday.
The approval came from Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari during a review meeting with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in New Delhi, as per a state government press release.
This substantial funding will be allocated to the development of four major national highways, significantly transforming the state's transport infrastructure and spurring industrial growth. DPR preparations for additional projects have also been greenlit.
Minister Gadkari reviewed the ongoing national highway projects in Chhattisgarh, underscoring the importance of addressing obstacles delaying these initiatives.
The Forest department was urged by Gadkari to expedite clearances and resolve pending issues, stressing the timely completion of all projects both ongoing and proposed.
The discussed projects include the Urga-Katghora bypass (NH-149B), the Basna to Sarangarh (Manikpur) feeder route, the Sarangarh to Raigarh feeder route, and the Raipur-Lakhanadon economic corridor.
Spanning a total distance of 236.1 km, these projects have received Rs 9,208 crore in approval. Additionally, eight projects worth Rs 908 crore were sanctioned under the Central Road Fund during Gadkari-Sai talks.
An extra Rs 1,200 crore was approved for developing various other roads, the state government revealed.
Four-lane widening of the Keshkal Ghat in Kondagaon district and the Dhamtari-Jagdalpur road also received approval.
Gadkari emphasized the importance of adhering to deadlines for the Raipur-Visakhapatnam road and Bilaspur-Urga-Pathalgaon road under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted that this initiative would significantly advance the state's industrial and business activities.
