Air France has launched an internal investigation after one of its planes traversed Iraqi airspace during a missile attack by Iran on Israel on October 1. Flight AF662, traveling from Paris to Dubai, was in a southern Iraq corridor, approved for airlines, during the incident.
The airline acted preemptively, suspending its aircraft's use of Iraqi airspace at 1700 GMT, prior to receiving any instructions from Iraqi authorities. The airspace was not officially closed to traffic until 1756 GMT.
Following the event, a separate Air France flight returned to Paris, while another, flying from Singapore to Paris, made an unscheduled stop in Delhi for extra fuel to circumvent a longer route. TF1 Info initially reported this story.
