Israel's Diplomatic Conditions for Lebanon Peace
Israel has presented the U.S. with conditions for resolving the Lebanon conflict, including active IDF engagement and air force freedom in Lebanese airspace. The U.S. sees these demands as unlikely to be approved by Lebanon or the international community. Discussions in Beirut are underway for a diplomatic solution.
Israel has outlined specific conditions to the United States for resolving the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, according to a report from Axios.
The conditions include allowing Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to actively enforce measures to prevent Hezbollah from rearming near the border and granting the Israeli air force operational freedom in Lebanese airspace.
U.S. and international consent to these demands appears unlikely, as a senior U.S. official has indicated. Meanwhile, White House special envoy Amos Hochstein is in Beirut for talks aimed at achieving a diplomatic resolution.
