Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Wednesday that the newly inaugurated Akurli bridge on Mumbai's Western Express Highway is set to alleviate a major traffic bottleneck, offering dual benefits by saving both time and fuel for commuters.
Completed within a remarkable 30-day period after his intervention, the bridge promises significant relief to lakhs of Mumbaikars navigating one of the city's most congested routes.
Goyal has also directed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and traffic police to swiftly widen the Akurli underpass and expedite several other infrastructure projects, including the Coastal Road extension to Bhayandar, aiming to further reduce traffic congestion.
