A Turkish drone strike killed three people in northern Iraq on Wednesday, according to Iraqi Kurdish security sources and a local official. The sources confirmed that a vehicle was set ablaze following the drone attack, resulting in the deaths of its three passengers near Iraq's northern province of Sulaimaniya.
The identities of the casualties have yet to be determined, the sources said. Turkey frequently conducts air strikes targeting PKK militants in northern Iraq and has established numerous outposts within Iraqi territory.
The PKK, which began an armed insurgency against Ankara in 1984, initially aimed to create an independent Kurdish state.
