REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC Limited, has officially transferred the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the Tumkur-II REZ Power Transmission Project to GR Infraprojects Limited (GRIL). This significant milestone took place on September 3 in Gurugram, marking a key step in the project's development.
The project was awarded to GRIL after the company successfully emerged as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through the Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, overseen by RECPDCL as the Bid Process Coordinator. GRIL will develop the project on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis, assuming full responsibility for construction, operation, and asset transfer.
The Tumkur-II REZ Power Transmission Project entails the creation of a 400/220 kV, 4 X 500 MVA pooling station near Tumkur in Karnataka, along with a 27.2-kilometer 400 kV transmission line and related infrastructure. TSC Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, formally handed the project documents to Saurabh Kaushik, head of Business Development and Strategy at GRIL.
The handover ceremony saw attendance from high-level officials of RECPDCL, GRIL, and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, to significantly enhance Karnataka's power transmission capabilities, while contributing to the broader goals of India's national grid development.
