Government Greenlights 12 New Industrial Cities to Propel Manufacturing Growth
The government has approved the development of 12 new industrial cities across 10 states, aiming to boost domestic manufacturing with an investment of Rs 28,602 crore. These cities will be developed as greenfield smart cities, generating significant employment and attracting both domestic and international investors.

The government on Wednesday sanctioned 12 new industrial cities in 10 states, modeled after Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Dholera in Gujarat, to invigorate domestic manufacturing with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore.
These industrial hubs will be located in Khurpia (Uttarakhand), Rajpura-Patiala (Punjab), Dighi (Maharashtra), Palakkad (Kerala), Agra and Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Gaya (Bihar), Zaheerabad (Telangana), Orvakal and Kopparthy (Andhra Pradesh), Jodhpur-Pali (Rajasthan), and one in Haryana.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, which approved these projects under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the NICDP will generate around one million direct and up to three million indirect jobs, positioning India as a formidable player in global value chains.
