Japan has issued an emergency warning as Typhoon Shanshan approaches with heavy rain and strong winds, forcing Toyota Motor to suspend operations at all domestic factories. Airlines and rail operators are canceling services as the 'very strong' typhoon packs winds of up to 252 km/h.

The Japan Meteorological Agency warned that strong winds, high waves, and high tides require maximum caution. Shanshan is expected to strike Kyushu within days and approach Tokyo by the weekend.

Evacuation orders have been issued for over 800,000 residents in Kagoshima, Aichi, and Shizuoka prefectures. In Aichi, a landslide has left two people unaccounted for while three were rescued. Toyota will suspend operations at all 14 Japan plants from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.

ANA Holdings and Japan Airlines are canceling hundreds of domestic and international flights, affecting thousands of passengers. This follows last week's Typhoon Ampil, which also caused significant disruptions.
