More than 50 lakh vehicles have traversed Atal Setu, the nation's longest sea bridge, since its inauguration for public use on January 13 this year, according to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

In an official statement, MMRDA disclosed that 50,04,350 vehicles, including public buses like BEST, NMMT, and MSRTC's Shivneri, crossed the sea bridge linking Sewri in Mumbai to Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai from January 13 to August 26. This represents a daily average of 22,000 vehicles over 227 days.

The spokesperson highlighted that vehicle types include 47.40 lakh cars, 50,020 mini buses and light motor vehicles, 59,799 double-axle vehicles, 73,074 three-axle vehicles, 80,277 four-six axle vehicles, and 503 oversized vehicles. Opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the bridge is proving critical in cutting congestion and reducing travel times between south Mumbai and key locations, such as Panvel, Pune, and the future Navi Mumbai International Airport.
