Pauri Garhwal MP Anil Baluni has urged the Centre to extend air connectivity under the UDAN scheme to the towns of Gopeshwar, Jyotirmath, Ramnagar, Lansdowne, and Pauri in his constituency. He pointed out that enhanced connectivity would boost tourism and reduce migration from the hills of Uttarakhand.

In a letter addressed to Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Baluni also emphasized the need to upgrade the Gauchar airstrip. He described Ramnagar as the gateway to the globally renowned Jim Corbett National Park, noting that linking it with air connectivity would greatly benefit tourism.

Baluni highlighted that Pauri, being the administrative hub of the Pauri district, requires efficient air connectivity with Dehradun. He also mentioned that Lansdowne stands out as a significant tourist destination closest to Delhi and the headquarters of the Garhwal Rifles, advocating for its air connectivity accordingly. Furthermore, he pitched for air links to Gopeshwar and Jyotirmath due to their strategic importance near the India-China border.

Rishi Prasad Sati, former president of the Jyotirmath municipal council, expressed gratitude towards Baluni for his efforts. He stated that the modernization of Gauchar airstrip would not only offer convenience to the public but also benefit pilgrims.
