Landslides Sever Major Highways in Uttarakhand: Multiple Casualties Reported
In Uttarakhand, landslides triggered by heavy rains have caused significant road closures, including the Badrinath national highway, affecting traffic and resulting in fatalities. Efforts are ongoing to clear debris, while alternate routes are being utilized where possible. Four Nepali laborers lost their lives, and one individual was swept away in Haridwar.

Landslides triggered by relentless heavy rains have closed the Badrinath national highway between Chamoli and Nandprayag for a second day, causing major disruptions. Rescue teams are working tirelessly to clear the debris.
Tragically, four laborers from Nepal were killed in a landslide in Rudraprayag district. Additionally, one person was swept away in the Ganga in Haridwar after heavy overnight rains battered various parts of Uttarakhand.
Similarly, national highways leading to Kedarnath and Yamunotri are also blocked. The Kedarnath highway remains obstructed due to debris at Pursari and Nandprayag, affecting traffic flow. Despite these challenges, light vehicles continue to commute using alternative routes, while heavy vehicles wait for road clearance.
