A tragic random knifing spree erupted on Friday night in the western German city of Solingen, claiming multiple lives and injuring others. According to reports by newspaper Bild, the attack took place around 9:45 p.m. during a local festival.
Witness accounts confirmed that the assailant is still at large, and the police are yet to disclose details. Solingen's Mayor Tim-Oliver Kurzbach expressed his deep sorrow. 'It tears my heart apart that there was an attack on our city. I have tears in my eyes when I think of those we have lost. I pray for all those who are still fighting for their lives,' he stated.
The festival was held to celebrate the town's 650 years. Fatal stabbings and shootings are relatively rare in Germany, making this incident particularly shocking to the community.
