A Canadian workers union issued a 72-hour strike notice on Friday to one of Canada's key freight railroads, mere hours after Canadian National trains resumed operations following a significant stoppage.
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference notified its intent to strike shortly after revealing plans to contest a government order imposing arbitration with CN and CPKC railroads, according to spokesperson Marc-André Gauthier.
Despite Canadian National trains rolling out early Friday, Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. trains remain stationary as the union representing 10,000 workers challenges the government-mandated arbitration. The disruption continues as the Canada Industrial Relations Board deliberates over the union's legal challenge.
