The Railway Board will install CCTV cameras equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on each locomotive and at critical yards to mitigate the increasing instances of rail accidents across the nation, as per official statements.

During a press conference at Prayagraj Railway Junction, Railway Board Chairperson and CEO Jaya Verma Sinha announced that these cameras are intended to detect any unusual activities. 'We are installing CCTV cameras with AI technology on every locomotive and at all significant yards,' she confirmed. Regarding railway track safety, Sinha noted that security forces will conduct continuous monitoring of the tracks during the Kumbh Mela to prevent any sabotage by antisocial elements.

Reviewing the preparations for the forthcoming Kumbh Mela, Sinha expressed confidence in the timely completion of infrastructure and capacity augmentation projects before the event. She pointed out that approximately 530 special trains were operated during the last Kumbh Mela in 2019, whereas around 900 special trains are planned for Kumbh 2025.

Sinha highlighted that more than 30 crore pilgrims are expected at this Kumbh Mela, and exhaustive plans are being laid out to manage crowd emergencies.

She added that Prayagraj Junction has been designated as an Amrit Bharat Station, with one side of the building expected to be operational before the Kumbh and the entire station within the next one to two years.

The Railway Board Chairperson also reviewed the Kumbh Mela preparations with general managers of North Central Railway, Northern Railway, and Northeast Frontier Railway and conducted site inspections at various stations, according to an official source.
