Tragic Shelling in Donetsk: Red Cross Workers Targeted

Russian shelling on Thursday resulted in the tragic deaths of three International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) workers and injured two others in a frontline village in the Donetsk region, according to Ukrainian officials.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attack on X, calling it 'Another Russian war crime.' He reported that the occupier targeted vehicles of the International Committee of the Red Cross humanitarian mission in Viroliubivka, as confirmed by regional governor Vadym Filashkin on the Telegram messenger app.
The ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric expressed deep condemnation, stating, 'I condemn attacks on Red Cross personnel in the strongest terms. It's unconscionable that shelling would hit an aid distribution site.' Prosecutors detailed that ICRC workers were delivering fuel briquettes for winter heating when the attack occurred. Two employees are hospitalized, one in serious condition.
