Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar has emphasized a shift towards economic nationalism, encouraging industries to prioritize local production and reduce avoidable imports. Addressing an audience, Dhankhar highlighted economic nationalism as integral to the Swadeshi movement and the 'Vocal for Local' campaign, citing negative impacts of unnecessary imports such as foreign exchange drainage and job creation challenges for Indian workers.

Dhankhar pointed out the detrimental effects of reliance on imported items like carpets, garments, and toys, which not only drain foreign exchange but also hamper the growth of domestic entrepreneurship. He urged industries to promote local production to create jobs and foster entrepreneurial growth within India. While speaking at the Swarna Bharat Trust in Venkatachalam, he also stressed the responsible use of natural resources, advocating consumption based on necessity rather than financial capacity.

Expressing concern about the export of raw materials like iron ore without value addition, Dhankhar noted that this practice limits job creation and weakens the national economy. He called for prioritizing long-term national interests over quick financial gains and urged a collective effort to place the nation's welfare above political, personal, and economic interests. Quoting a Shloka from the Rig Veda, he underscored the importance of national unity and actions that bring tangible changes to ordinary citizens' lives. Dhankhar also paid tribute to former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu for his lifelong dedication to public service and commitment to rural India.
