A roundtable meeting chaired by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, was held today in New Delhi with representatives from Central Trade Union Organisations (CTUOs). The session, also attended by Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, and senior ministry officials, focused on the newly proposed Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, which was highlighted in the recent Union Budget, along with other labour welfare initiatives.

Dr. Mandaviya underscored the government's unwavering dedication to the welfare of the labour force, acknowledging it as the cornerstone of the nation's economic growth and development. He emphasized the importance of trade unions, describing them as the voice of the workers, and highlighted the necessity of their insights in shaping policies that are effective, fair, and inclusive.

During the meeting, a detailed presentation on the proposed ELI scheme was made, outlining its objectives and benefits. Dr. Mandaviya invited feedback from the trade unions on the scheme’s formulation, stressing that it aims to encourage businesses to create more employment opportunities while ensuring meaningful and sustainable jobs for the youth of the country.

The representatives from various CTUOs shared their perspectives on the ELI scheme and other government-led labour welfare measures.
