Enhanced Passenger Safety: Platform Screen Doors in Delhi Metro Phase-4

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that Phase-4 will feature Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) on all corridors to improve passenger safety. Elevated stations will have half-height PSDs, while underground stations will be equipped with full-height PSDs. The expansion targets the completion of 65 kilometers of new lines by 2026.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has confirmed that all corridors in Phase-4 will feature Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) to enhance passenger safety and streamline boarding procedures.

Officials revealed that elevated stations will have 'half-height' PSDs, similar to those on the Pink and Magenta lines from Phase-3, while underground stations will feature 'full-height' PSDs of 2.15 meters. The underground corridor will extend about 40 kilometers in total length.

DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal emphasized the role of PSDs in crowd management, ensuring passengers queue properly and travel safely. Despite delays caused by the Covid pandemic and issues with tree-cutting permissions, the Phase 4 project aims to open three priority corridors totaling 65 kilometers by 2026.
