On Thursday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the launch of the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT), a cutting-edge feature aimed at simplifying metro travel by removing the daily necessity of purchasing QR tickets. DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar unveiled this new offering at Metro Bhawan, accompanied by other senior officials.

The innovative technology, revealed via DMRC's official post on X, marks India's first QR-based multiple-journey ticketing system and is exclusively accessible through DMRC's Delhi Metro Sarathi (Momentum 2.0) app. The MJQRT is designed to provide an efficient and seamless journey management solution for Delhi Metro passengers.

Starting Friday, app users can utilize this feature to view and manage their trips, including fare payments and recharges. To start using MJQRT, passengers need to register on the Delhi Sarthi (Momentum 2.0) app with an initial balance of Rs 150. Users can recharge their balance in multiples of Rs 50 using digital payment methods such as UPI, credit cards, and debit cards, with a maximum limit of Rs 3,000 and a minimum required balance of Rs 60 for travel.

The MJQRT also offers a 10 percent discount during peak hours (8 AM - 12 PM and 5 PM - 9 PM) and a 20 percent discount during off-peak hours, presenting a cost-effective alternative to traditional smart cards. Besides being eco-friendly, the MJQRT ensures that the balance remains intact in case of theft, loss, or damage to the mobile device, allowing users to log in on another device to continue their journeys.

MD Kumar highlighted the 'Ease of Booking' initiative, which includes multiple ticket booking modes, various fare media, and multiple payment choices. MJQRT extends the existing fare media options, which include single journey QR tickets, NCMC, and DMRC smart cards. Kumar expressed satisfaction with the initiative, stating, "We are pleased to launch the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) as part of our 'Ease of Booking' initiative. MJQRT simplifies travel with a single QR code, enhancing convenience and offering eco-friendly benefits."

With the introduction of MJQRT, DMRC continues to emphasize its commitment to digital innovation, making metro travel more convenient and environmentally friendly, thereby enhancing passenger experiences on the Delhi Metro.
