Farmers Denounce Haryana's MSP Announcement as Election Ploy
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha criticized the Haryana government's announcement of a minimum support price for 24 crops, calling it an election stunt. They argue that the move lacks the C2+50 percent formula recommended by the MS Swaminathan committee and fails to provide legal guarantees for procurement at MSP. A farmers' meeting is scheduled for August 20 to decide future actions.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Tuesday slammed the Haryana government's decision to announce a minimum support price (MSP) for 24 crops, terming it an 'election stunt' that fails to meet the demands of farmers.
In a statement, the SKM condemned the decision, saying it does not adhere to the C2+50 percent formula suggested by the MS Swaminathan committee. Despite being a central demand of the farmers' protests in 2020-21, the announcement lacks any legal guarantee for procurement at MSP.
The SKM criticized Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for what it called a partial and politically motivated declaration, aimed at wooing farmer votes ahead of the assembly polls. The farmers' group plans to hold a village-level campaign to expose and oppose the BJP in the upcoming elections, starting with a meeting on August 20.
