The German Embassy in India, in collaboration with Fraunhofer, hosted an impactful conference in New Delhi titled "Sustainability: The Technology Imperative for Our Future: German Innovations in India." The event marked a milestone in deepening technological and sustainable innovation ties between India and Germany, featuring prominent German industry leaders and unveiling a critical knowledge paper.

CEOs and senior executives from leading German firms such as Mercedes Benz, SAP, MERCK, Continental, Daimler Truck, FESTO, Siemens Healthineers, Bosch Global Software Technologies, and Infineon gathered for the conference. The highlight was the launch of a knowledge paper titled "From India to the World: How India Can Transform into a Global Product Development and Innovation Hub." The comprehensive document, co-authored by Anandi Iyer, Director of Fraunhofer India; Soumya Gopinathan from Mercedes Benz Research Development India; and Dr. Fabian Hecklau from Fraunhofer Institute of Production Systems and Design Technology, Berlin, provides insights and recommendations on leveraging India's potential in global product development.

German Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann underscored the significance of the event in the context of the Indo-German relationship, emphasizing the conference's alignment with upcoming high-level dialogues between the two nations' leaders. Neeraj Sinha, from the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, highlighted the initiative's potential to bolster India's innovation landscape, adding to the momentum gathered from grassroots to high-level industry collaborations.

Anandi Iyer stressed the importance of highlighting the extensive R&D contributions by German companies in India, underscoring their role in technological advancement. The conference set the stage for future partnerships, focusing on how German innovations can support India's sustainable development goals. The presence of industry leaders underscored German businesses' commitment to assisting India's transformation into a global innovation hub.
