Kolkata Metro Reduces Services on Independence Day

The Kolkata Metro will reduce its services on Independence Day. Only 188 services will run on the Dakhineswar-New Garia line, with 94 in each direction. Regular services will be from 6.50 am to 9.40 pm, and a special night service at 10.40 pm. The East-West corridor will see a reduction from 106 to 90 services, and Howrah Maidan-Esplanade will have 90 instead of 130 services.

The Kolkata Metro will operate fewer services on Independence Day, an official disclosed on Friday.

A total of 188 services will run on the Dakhineswar-New Garia line on August 15, with 94 services in each direction, the official confirmed. Normally, 288 services are available daily on this route.

On Independence Day, regular operations will be between 6:50 AM and 9:40 PM, with a special night service at 10:40 PM. In the East-West corridor's Sector 5-Sealdah section, 90 services will be available, down from the usual 106 daily services. Similarly, the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section will see a reduction to 90 services from the standard 130.
