Tragedy on Kedarnath Route: Bodies of More Pilgrims Recovered from Landslide Debris

Authorities have recovered four more bodies from the debris of a landslide on the Kedarnath route, raising the toll to five, officials reported on Tuesday.
Rudraprayag Police suggested more pilgrims might still be trapped. The landslide, which occurred around 7:20 PM Monday, trapped a group of returning pilgrims. The SDRF and NDRF initiated rescue operations, retrieving one body identified as Gopal (50) from Madhya Pradesh and rescuing three others. However, operations were suspended overnight due to ongoing bad weather and falling boulders.
As operations resumed Tuesday morning, the bodies of four additional pilgrims were identified: Durgabai Khapar (50) from Madhya Pradesh, Titli Devi (70) from Nepal, Saman Bai (50) from Madhya Pradesh, and Bharat Bhai Niralal (52) from Gujarat. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
