In a recent Lok Sabha session, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw disclosed that the Railways is currently operating four non-AC Amrit Bharat trains equipped with advanced features. These trains aim to enhance passenger comfort and include modern state-of-the-art technologies such as semi-permanent couplers for jerk-free travel, horizontal sliding windows, foldable snack tables, bottle holders, and mobile holders.

Responding to JD(U) MP Sunil Kumar's inquiry about the introduction of 165 new Amrit Bharat trains from July, Vaishnaw clarified that the Railways has initiated Amrit Bharat services. He acknowledged the demand for better transportation options from border districts in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to major medical hubs like Gorakhpur Medical College, PGI Lucknow, and AIIMS Delhi.

Vaishnaw further elaborated that the four operational Amrit Bharat services, including the Darbhanga-Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat Express, consist of 12 sleeper class coaches and 8 general class coaches. The introduction of new train services, including Amrit Bharat Express, remains an ongoing process determined by traffic justification, operational feasibility, and resource availability.
