SpiceJet's CFO Resignation: Ashish Kumar Steps Down, Joyakesh Podder Appointed

Struggling carrier SpiceJet announces the resignation of CFO Ashish Kumar, less than two years into his tenure. Joyakesh Podder has been appointed as the new Head of Finance and Deputy CFO, effective from July 15, 2024. Podder brings over three decades of experience in the finance sector.

Struggling carrier SpiceJet announced on Tuesday the resignation of its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ashish Kumar, who stepped down less than two years after his appointment. The airline has named Joyakesh Podder as the new Head of Finance, effective July 15, 2024.

Appointed as CFO in September 2022, Kumar's departure comes amid financial challenges for the airline. SpiceJet recently reported a multi-fold jump in profit after tax at Rs 118 crore for the March quarter of FY24, but posted significant losses in the December quarter and the entire 2023-24 fiscal year.

Podder, a seasoned chartered accountant with over three decades of experience, previously held notable positions at Go First, Mahindra, and Reliance. This will be his second stint at the Gurugram-based airline, where he aims to lead the finance department and support strategic financial initiatives.
