Left Front Demands Resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee Following RG Kar Medical College Violence

The CPI(M)-led Left Front has called for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from her roles as Health and Home minister after violence erupted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The incident involved the vandalism of hospital facilities and stemmed from protests over the rape and murder of a junior doctor.

During the early hours, a mob reportedly entered the hospital campus and vandalized the emergency room, outpatient department, and the area where junior doctors were demonstrating against the rape and murder of their colleague.

Left Front chairman Biman Bose condemned the incident and also demanded the resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. The Front called for the immediate identification and arrest of those involved in the vandalism and announced protests on August 17. Bose urged the CBI to expedite its investigation into the doctor's case to ensure swift justice.
