Hindustan Unilever Sells Pureit Water Purification Business to AO Smith

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) has announced the sale of its Pureit water purification business to AO Smith India Water Products for USD 72 million. The transaction is part of a broader global deal by Unilever. Pureit, which operates in markets such as India and Bangladesh, will help AO Smith expand its reach and enhance its premium product portfolio.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) announced on Monday the sale of its Pureit water purification business to AO Smith India Water Products for USD 72 million. This transaction is part of a larger global operation by Unilever.

Unilever has agreed to sell its Pureit water purification business to AO Smith—a leading global water technology company—expanding Pureit's reach beyond India to markets such as Vietnam and Mexico.

AO Smith stated the purchase price would be approximately USD 120 million in cash, subject to adjustments. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, pending customary conditions. HUL's CEO Rohit Jawa expressed confidence in the brand's future under AO Smith's ownership.
