Air India Express (AIX) will merge with another Tata Group subsidiary, AIX Connect, in October, as per an internal communication on Friday. Hamish Maxwell is set to be the new chief operating officer of the unified entity, replacing Pushpinder Singh.

Maxwell, currently the Senior Vice President for flight operations at Vistara, will take over as COO on October 31. He brings extensive experience, having previously held management roles at Singapore Airlines.

Under the current COO, Pushpinder Singh, AIX expanded operations, inducted over 30 aircraft, and grew its flight network to 46 stations, among other achievements. The merger aims to streamline operations and facilitate further growth.
