In a landmark development for India's maritime sector, Adani Ports and SEZ's CEO, Karan Adani, has announced that the Vizhinjam port will substantially reduce logistics costs and transit times for Indian manufacturers. Speaking with ANI, Adani stated that the port would decrease transit times by almost 30 to 40 percent, thereby boosting the global competitiveness of Indian manufacturers.

"This port will not only cut transit times but also reduce logistics costs by 4-5%," Adani explained. The announcement comes as Adani Ports welcomed the first mother ship to the Vizhinjam port on Friday, marking India's entry into the global transshipment arena and positioning the port as a vital player in international trade routes.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, attended the milestone event. Chief Minister Vijayan celebrated the port's inauguration, hailing it as a testament to public-private partnerships and a significant step for Kerala. The Vizhinjam port project, developed by Adani in partnership with the Kerala government, is set to become a cornerstone of India's international trade efforts.
