A new deadly game challenge on the internet is gaining much attention and concerns. The online suicide game called 'Momo' is now targeting kids through 'Minecraft', a widely popular online game about placing blocks and going on adventures.

Minecraft developer Mojang is owned by tech giant Microsoft. Momo, the name of the scary doll featuring the deadly game recently appeared in Minecraft. The skin icon has been added by 'Modder', a person who mods games. To mod, a game is to create custom levels, objects, characters, or even unique or stand-alone game from an existing game engine.

The Minecraft mod adds the macabre avatar for “Momo,” a terrifying image of a doll with bulging eyes that chases the player while waving a mobile phone with the WhatsApp icon.

Microsoft told Fox news that it is currently working to fix the sickening “mod.” “This content, which was independently developed by a third party, does not align with our values and is not part of the official Minecraft game. This is a misuse of the platform and we are taking action to restrict access to the mod,” said a Microsoft spokesperson.

The online suicide game came into light after a 12-year-old girl from Argentina took her own life in her backyard. The girl posted videos of herself doing a series of 'challenges' before committing suicide.

The game encourages kids to add an unknown contact on WhatsApp by the name ‘Momo’. Once the contact is added, the image of the terrifying doll with bulging eyes appears in the contact. The game controller then tempts kids to perform a series of challenges and finally encourages them to commit suicide. If the instructions are not followed, the players are threatened with violent images, audio or video.
