A Tesla Cybertruck exploded in flames outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Wednesday, resulting in the death of the driver and injuries to seven others. The FBI is investigating whether this blast was an act of terrorism, according to officials.
The explosion came just hours after another deadly truck incident in New Orleans, which killed 15 people. The incident occurred near a hotel associated with President-elect Donald Trump's organization. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill and FBI special agent Jeremy Schwartz addressed the ongoing investigation during a press conference.
Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, clarified that the explosion was due to large fireworks or a bomb carried in the rented Cybertruck's bed, unrelated to the vehicle itself. Police are still investigating the explosion's connections to a possible terrorist motive.
