Google has unveiled a suite of new features for Android devices, extending beyond its own Pixel smartphones. Among these updates are enhancements to accessibility, content consumption, safety, and Wear OS functionalities, according to GSM Arena.

Firstly, Android's TalkBack screen reader will now utilize Gemini models on supported devices to provide detailed audio descriptions of images. This upgrade allows users to receive comprehensive photo descriptions, whether they are in their camera roll, receiving text messages, or browsing social media.

Another significant update is the official launch of the Circle to Search feature, which lets users identify songs playing around them or on their devices. This much-anticipated function aids users in quickly finding song names, as reported by GSM Arena.

Additionally, Google has added a new feature in Chrome that enables users to listen to web pages. This function offers customizable options for listening speed, voice type, and language, making web content consumption similar to podcasts. The Android Earthquake Alerts System is set to expand its coverage, enhancing safety measures.

According to GSM Arena, this system, which uses crowd-sourced data to detect earthquakes, will now be available across all US states and six territories. It provides users with potentially life-saving alerts seconds before an earthquake and offers post-earthquake guidance.

Finally, a new Wear OS feature allows for offline map access via Google Maps. This update enables users to use maps downloaded to their paired smartphones. New shortcuts also allow for voice command searches when reconnected online or to check current location with a simple tap on the watch face. (ANI)
