West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called for the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and chief ministers of states that have not implemented effective women safeguarding laws.
Speaking after tabling the Aparajita Woman and Child Bill 2024, Banerjee emphasized speedy investigations, quick justice delivery, and harsher punishment for offenders. Amid disruptions in the assembly, she also demanded Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari's resignation for obstructing the Bill's passage.
Banerjee stressed that social reforms are vital to prevent crimes like rape and hailed the Bill as historic.
