Government to Finalize FAME 3 Scheme Soon

Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy announced that the government is expected to finalize the third phase of its electric mobility adoption scheme, FAME 3, within one to two months. An inter-ministerial group is addressing issues from previous phases to ensure effective implementation.

The government is accelerating efforts to finalize the third phase of its flagship electric mobility adoption scheme, FAME, within a month or two. This announcement was made by Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday.

An inter-ministerial group is meticulously working on inputs received for FAME 3, aiming to rectify issues identified in the previous phases—FAME 1 and FAME 2. 'On FAME 3, several suggestions are coming because in FAME 1, FAME 2 whatever lacunae is there, how to separate it, for that we are working,' said Kumaraswamy.

FAME 3 will be replacing the temporary Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024, which is set to expire in September. Kumaraswamy further mentioned that the plan might be sent to the Union Cabinet for approval within the next couple of months, incorporating suggestions from various stakeholders to strengthen the automobile industry.
