Indian telecom players are ambitiously targeting a 10% share of all 6G patents globally, along with one-sixth of the contributions to global standards over the next three years, according to an official statement released on Saturday.

During the Stakeholders Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting on Telecom Service Providers, chaired by Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, industry leaders proposed aligning research with India's specific telecom needs and establishing a vigorous 'Standards Community.'

Reliance Jio MD Pankaj Pawar, Vodafone Idea CEO Akshaya Moondra, BSNL Chairman Robert J Ravi, Tejas Networks Chairman N G Subramaniam, and COAI Director General S P Kochhar were among the attendees. They discussed creating a supportive policy framework to promote 100% broadband coverage and advancing India as a deep-tech leader with robust connectivity.
