NASSCOM, in collaboration with Meta, has unveiled the 'Open-Source Generative AI Grand Challenge.' The initiative aims to nurture startups and developers dedicated to open-source GenAI technologies geared towards socio-economic impact.

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, serves as the technology partner, supplying the required compute infrastructure.

According to NASSCOM, the challenge is designed to offer opportunities for startups and developers to utilize open-source technologies in creating GenAI solutions across various sectors, highlighting their socio-economic contributions.

This challenge intends to bridge innovative solutions with industry leaders to promote widespread adoption. It seeks contributions from generative AI startups and developers in fields like education, enterprise, and e-governance.

Meta's Vice President, Shivnath Thukral, emphasized the role of openly accessible AI models in democratizing cutting-edge technology, enabling Indian developers to create transformative solutions. Winning participants will be awarded up to Rs 4 lakh, with mentorship opportunities available for all participants.
