Coco Gauff lost to unseeded Magda Linette 6-4 6-4, unable to advance to the Miami Open quarter-finals amid a difficult day for Americans as Danielle Collins, Amanda Anisimova, and Ashlyn Krueger all faced straight-set defeats.

Gauff, who was seeded third, struggled significantly with her service game, recording 12 double faults. Magda Linette, ranked 34th, maintained composure despite the crowd's energy after Gauff's temporary lead in the second set to secure her first win against a top-three player since 2021. Next, Linette will face Jasmine Paolini, who defeated Japan's Naomi Osaka.

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka dispatched defending champion Collins to reach the quarter-finals, where she meets Zheng Qinwen. Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek overcame Elina Svitolina and will face Alexandra Eala next after the latter advanced due to Paula Badosa withdrawing with an injury.
