The international cricket stadium in Narsingarh, Tripura, currently under construction, has emerged as a potential venue for the Kolkata Knight Riders' second home ground in the 2025 IPL season. With Eden Garden in Kolkata slated for renovations, this presents a unique opportunity for the new stadium.
Despite construction commencing in 2017 with a hefty budget of Rs. 185 crore, the project remains incomplete. According to Subarta Dey, TCA secretary, IPL chairman Arun Kumar Dhumal has expressed interest in the stadium hosting matches if it is ready by February next year.
The Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) is keen to fast-track the remaining 20% of the construction, even considering replacing the current agency if deadlines aren't met. The hope is to attract at least two IPL matches by 2025, marking a significant achievement for the region.
