On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, more than 1500 athletes and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Sports Authority of India took a pledge to uphold national unity. The event, led by Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports), underscores the importance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting the nation.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed annually on October 31, celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, the day highlights India's dedication to national unity and its aspirations for global leadership by 2047.
Athletes, coaches, staff, and officials from 24 National Centre of Excellence across India participated in the pledge, along with members from SAI Headquarters and the Union Sports Ministry in New Delhi. The online event served as a collective reaffirmation to strengthen the nation's unity, integrity, and security.
